On Thursday, October 4, in Bangkok, Thailand, interim WBA World minimumweight champion Knockout CP Freshmart (11-0, 6 KOs), from Surin, Thailand, defends his title against WBA/NABA minimumweight champion Carlos “Chocorroncito” Buitrago (28-1-1, 16 KOs), from Managua, Nicaragua.

Their first fight was on October 1, 2014, at I-Mobile Football Stadium in Buriram, Thailand. It went the 12-round distance, but was a nail-biter that Freshmart won by 115-113 on all three judges’ scorecards.

Although it was Buitrago’s first loss, he rebounded in his next fight to win the vacant WBA/NABA minimumweight title with a unanimous decision over Mario Rodriguez at Palenque de la Feria Mesoamericana in Tapachula, Chiapas, Mexico.

Knockout CP Freshmart has had two fights since their first encounter, a UD over Muhammad Rachman and a fourth round TKO over previously undefeated Alex Diaz.

Twenty-five year-old Freshmart is a year older than Buitrago, but has less wear and tear on his body. Buitrago is fast and throws punches in bunches, which is exactly what he’ll to do to keep the more aggressive Thai fighter off him.

The judges for the bout are Levi Martinez (US), Octavio Rodriguez (Panama), and Ferlin Marsh (New Zealand).

The third man in the ring will be Kazunobu Asao (Japan).
