Colombian Darvin Galeano became the new World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedecaribe Lightweight Champion after defeating Panamanian Fernando De La Rosa by TKO in the first round this Friday night in Panama City.
Galeano was the great protagonist of a good event held in the Isthmian country and showed his strength with that quick knockout in the main bout against the local boxer.
The 26-year-old native of Monteria was too much for De La Rosa and got an early win to keep his undefeated record and win the regional belt of the pioneer organization, something that will help him to move up and get better opportunities.
Galeano remained undefeated in 10 fights, with 7 knockouts, while his opponent De La Rosa dropped his record to 5 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw, with 3 wins before the limit.
Also in action in the evening was WBA flyweight number 13, Venezuelan Keiver Fernandez, who defeated Nicaraguan Engel Gomez by unanimous decision in a tough battle that he was able to get out of.
The scorecards were 77-74, 78-73 and 76-75 in an eight round fight. Fernandez has a record of 22 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw and 12 knockouts, while Gomez has a record of 8 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw and 4 knockouts.
