This weekend took the sixth Gilberto Mendoza Boxing Festival in Venezuela, with an array of activities in honor of the emeritus president of the World Boxing Association and a lot of boxing in his native country.
Different events and activities marked the sixth anniversary of the death of this unforgettable man and, as usual, the traditional boxing festival was held at the Yesterday Recreational Center in Turmero, Aragua State.
Among the activities carried out was a mass that was attended by boxing personalities and close friends of Mr. Mendoza such as Rafael Carabaño, Manuel Pereira, among others.
“Gilberto Mendoza’s transcendence is evident in the way he continues to unite people. We are together today thanks to someone who did many good deeds in life, and who continues to unite us even after six years of his farewell”, was one of Rafael Morón’s key phrases during the mass.
There was also an evening of amateur boxing, with boxers from four states who gave good fights among the young talent that had the opportunity to participate.
It was a nice event to honor Mendoza and the work he did for Latin American boxing, which continues to be evidenced day by day as the years go by.
