WBA Super middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (34-0, 31 KOs), the knockout artist from Los Angeles by way of Karaganda, Kazakhstan, has been named WBA Boxer of the Month for October.
On October 17 at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Golovkin fought IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-3, 32 KOs), the power puncher from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in a rare unification bout.
Lemieux was the most accomplished fighter Triple had faced—but it looked like a cat playing with a mouse.
Golovkin controlled the fight from the opening bell before he TKO’d Lemieux at 1:30 the eighth round.
It was another dominant performance by boxing’s most dominant fighter.
