Boxing kicked off with the right foot in Argentina. From April 28 to May 8, the III South American Youth Games will take place in the city of Rosario, province of Santa Fe. There, 15 countries from all over the world will try to give their best under the premise of bringing sports closer to the population, promoting health habits and values.
The Argentine youth boxing team had its first presentation on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Pavilion C of La Rural Cluster. That scenario witnessed the women’s quarterfinals in the 57-60kg category where the local Daniela Magali Herrera defeated Claudia Daniela Montoya from Colombia by 5-0. And in 54-57kg, Milagros Elizabeth Quiquinte from Argentina also won 4-1 against Lorena Sabrica from Venezuela.
On the men’s side, in the 49-52kg, Junior Andrés Narváes lost to Miguel Ospino Ibáñez from Colombia, while in the 63-69kg category, Luciano Matías Amaya defeated Gary Moisés Oyola Macías from Venezuela by RSC in the second round. Three of the four debutants from the host country advanced to the next round. A total of nine are the members of the national team in charge of former world champion Omar Narvaez together with Victor Hugo Castro and Ruperto Ruiz.
As of yesterday, Friday, May 6, the medals in different categories began to be defined. Several countries have an outstanding performance in this South American where the youth talents of the region are shown.
Argentina, beyond being the host of this occasion, has been supporting for a long time a deep development of youth boxing as a way of laying the foundations for the future growth of the sport of fists. Proof of this was the harvest of medals in the Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018.
