Englishmen George Groves and Chris Eubank Jr. held their last press conference prior to their fight this Saturday, February 17th, in Manchester, England, where the World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Middleweight Super Championship will be at stake.
On this occasion, the first blows of the fight were verbal. Eubank Jr. attacked his rival by saying: “You’d love to have my style. You’re even wearing the same suit I was when we had our face off “, and added: “You reckon you were a novice when we sparred, well I still think you’re a novice, to be honest”.
To this, Groves replied: “This for me isn’t my biggest fight to date but I feel in the form of my life and the best shape of my career. I’m fully prepared to retain my world title in style”. He then stated that, according to his point of view, Eubank Jr. is not harder than James DeGale, Carl Froch, Badou Jack or Fedor Chudinov.
Now, the last stop that these two boxers have left before entering the ring is the weigh-in ceremony that will be held on Friday, February 16th. If both of them hit the scales within the 168-pound limit, they will be able to fight for the WBA Super Championship of the category.
