By the end of April, more precisely on April 20, the World Boxing Association interim welterweight world title will be disputed in the city of Zagreb, Croatia, between Ivana Habazin and Kinga Magyar.
The local boxer, Ivana Habazin, No.1, is the official challenger. While Hungary’s representative, Magyar, is ranked 4th in the rankings.
The unified crowns are held by American Jessica McCaskill, who will fight for the fourth time on May 11 against Lauren Price in the United Kingdom.
The experienced 34-year-old Ivana Habazin has developed her career between welterweight, super welterweight and middleweight since her professional debut on June 25, 2010. She has been champion at 147 by the IBF to then be challenger of Cecilia Braekhus when she lost her titles. In addition, she has been featured in challenges against the likes of Mikaela Lauren, Claressa Shields and Terri Harper.
In the opposite corner will be Kinga Magyar of Hungary, 28, who will be looking for her first big world title shot. After starting her career in professional boxing, she has 14 wins with 6 knockouts and 4 defeats. Magyar has not lost a fight since 2018 which has positioned her to get this opportunity.
Habazin accumulates 22 wins of which 7 have been defined before the limit and 5 setbacks. With this fight, she hopes to be closer to the unification of the black and gold belt.
