Devin Haney received his World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Champion belt from the hands of the organization’s president, Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada.
During the ceremony to honor the 135-pound champion, one of the best fighters at present, the highest authorities of the WBA shared the belt with the American and thanked him for representing the black and gold colors.
The belt, which is a special edition, has Haney’s name and his face engraved on it. The American fighter was crowned last June 5 when he defeated George Kambosos in Australia and is preparing for a second fight against the same opponent on October 16.
Mendoza spoke about his admiration for Haney and his skills as a fighter, while wishing him the best in what is to come for his career now that he is the lightweight king.
