Today the two-time World Boxing Association the Nicaraguan world champion Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez celebrates his 27 birthday.
Gonzalez was born in Managua in 1987, and has been a professional boxer since age 18. He won his first WBA title in 2008 when he defeated Yutaka Niida by TKO 4 and became the king of the minimum weight. He reigned until 2010, and that year he left the division.
He had the chance to fight for the light flyweight interim title and won it when he beat Francisco Rosas by KO 2 and after five successful defenses he vacated the title in 2012.
He is currently the WBA second rated contender in 112-pound.
