The last step before fighting for the World Boxing Association (WBA) continental belt was accomplished by Cuban Uwel Hernandez and Kosovar Kumer Maloku. Both made weight this Thursday and will step into the ring tomorrow in Wuppertal, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.
The former weighed in at 166.7 pounds and the latter stopped the scale at 166.2, which leaves them qualified to fight for the 168-pound belt.
Hernandez is Cuban but has German nationality. He has made his entire career in the country that welcomed him and since his debut in 2017 has been growing despite the ups and downs he has had from the sporting point of view.
Maloku is also a resident of Germany and knows he will not have an easy challenge. However, he comes in on a roll and hasn’t lost since 2014, so his confidence will be key to develop the fight plan he has.
Hernandez has a record of 13 wins, 1 loss and 7 knockouts. Maloku’s record is 16 wins, 2 losses and 13 knockouts.
