Armenian native Azat Hovhannisyan beat Venezuelan native Franklin Manzanilla via fourth round technical knockout to take the WBA Super Bantamweight World Qualifier in an event presented by Golden Boy Promotions at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, California.
The fight that was agreed to twelve rounds did not disappoint the fans at any time. While it lasted it was full of action and good exchanges.
As if it were the last fight of his life, Hovhanisyan came out throwing in the very first round, pressing the Venezuelan who threw back but was overcome by the volume of blows of his opponent who gave everything he had for the knockout.
The second and third rounds were a copy of the first round. The Armenian continued with the same pattern of attack with blows to the face of Manzanilla who at times responded but eventually the punches sent him to the canvas from a blow to the stomach that he could not recover from, thus decreeing the technical knockout.
With this victory Hovhanisyan won the opportunity to face the regular champion Daniel Roman as long as the latter meets his regulatory commitments.
Manzanilla was left with a record of 24 fights, 18 wins (17 knockouts), and 6 losses. Meanwhile, Hovhannisyan improved his record to 21 fights, 18 wins (15 knockouts), and 3 losses.
