Mexican boxer Jaime Munguia (38-0, 30KO) has only one goal in mind: to defeat American D’Mitrius Ballard (21-0-1, 13KO) on February 19 in Tijuana, Mexico to keep thinking about a world title shot.
“I am happy to have this opportunity against D’Mitrius Ballard, I think he is a good fighter, he has a very good technique, he is an undefeated fighter. So, I think it’s going to be a very good fight,” said Munguia.
Jaime had a tough test last November, when he defeated Gabriel Rosado by unanimous decision, an experience that made him grow as a boxer. However, he said that against Ballard he will go out to “look for the knockout”.
For his part, his trainer and boxing legend Erik “El Terrible” Morales is confident in his pupil’s condition: “I see him well prepared, I see him ready. We have done many rounds of boxing and he looks stronger and stronger. He has evolved, he is a more proactive fighter, he has more combinations, he learns faster to identify what he has to do or change at the moment what he has to do”.
“El Terrible” considers that Jaime is in a good moment and that he has just won a complicated fight, but that in spite of having in front of him a “strong, difficult and fast” boxer, there will be no comparison when it comes to get into the ring.
Munguia has already reigned in the super welterweight division and hopes to overcome this obstacle to be able to think about a new world title opportunity, now in the middleweight division.
