By unanimous decision 114-113, British Jamie McDonnell retained, for the second time, his World Boxing Association bantamweight 118-lbs weight
The champion managed to overcome a complicated start against Challenger Tomoki Kameda, who even connected him a right hand and sent him to the canvas in the third round. McDonnell received protection count by the Puerto Rican referee Luis Pabón, and continued on foot until the bell rang.
In the fourth round McDonnell (26-2-1, 12 KO) took distance of Kameda (31-1, 19 KO) and managed to recover from the knock down, to be able to fight the rest of the rounds in a good exchange with the Japanese.
