Janeth Perez became Mexico’s new world bantamweight champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), as she stopped Colombian Yolis Marrugo in the seventh round. Perez ended her work at one minute and 58 seconds of the seventh round, when referee Romina Arroyo stopped the fight seconds after Marrugo was punished with two solid hard shots in a neutral corner.

Janeth Perez raised her record to 13 wins, 4 by knockout, no defeats and one draw. While Marrugo falls to 13 wins, 8 losses and 3 draws.
