Jeff Mayweather, Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s uncle, talked about Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in an interview with Tha Boxing Voice and compared their careers.
With great sincerity, he talked about the great moment that the Mexican is living and assured that he resembles him to when his nephew dominated the world boxing in his time as an active fighter.
“I see a lot of Floyd in Canelo. The way he moves. In the beginning he wasn’t so good at defense, now he moves his head. You can see he’s worked on a lot of things and I see a lot of Floyd. Not exactly the same, but I think he did copy some things,” he stressed in the interview.
Jeff assured that right now Canelo is the best fighter in the world and that he is going to beat Bivol in their next fight.
“I don’t think it’s a challenge. I’ve seen him, I don’t want to say he’s not impressive, but Canelo is better,” he said.
He also noted that right now he sees very few fighters who can beat Alvarez and that he is the big man of this era in world boxing.
