The countdown is on between Jennifer Meza from Argentina and Roxana Colmenarez, reigning World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedelatin Atomweight champion, and the tough Venezuelan Roxana Colmenarez for their fight this Saturday, May 4.

The 10-round fight is part of the main card of the event to be held at the emblematic Luna Park Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The main fight will be between Evelin Nazarena Bermudez (19-1-1) and Jessica Basulto Salazar (12-1). It will also be broadcast live on TyC Sports.

Jennifer Meza’s current status

Born in Olivo, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Jennifer Sabrina Meza, will defend the WBA title for the first time, following a unanimous decision win over fellow Venezuelan Yoselin Fernandez in her last bout in the middle of last year.

Meza has recently reduced her activity in the ring. It is worth remembering that during 2023 she saw action on two occasions, at the beginning of the year she won by knockout in the fourth round to win the Fedelatin belt, on this occasion at minimum weight against the Venezuelan, Johana Zúñiga (17-7-1).

The 32-year-old fighter (8-3 / 3 KO) has a low knockout percentage of 37%. However, she is on a four-fight win streak, with her last loss in 2021 against fellow countrywoman Lucia De Los Angeles (3-8).

Current status of Roxana Colmenarez

Roxana Maria Colmenarez, a young fighter from Caracas, will step into the ring for the third time in 2024. She started the year with a unanimous decision loss in Argentina to undefeated local Sol Cudos (7-0-2), and later returned to winning ways in her homeland, where she defeated Yolimar Moreno (0-6) by knockout in the second round.

The 24-year-old Colmenarez (10-3-1 / 8 KO) possesses knockout power in excess of 80 per cent. He will be looking for his first win outside of Venezuela and a rematch, as all of his defeats in professional boxing have come on Argentinian soil.
