World Boxing Association (WBA) Light flyweight world champion, Mexican Yesica Nery Plata, received her championship belt in a ceremony held in Mexico City on Wednesday.
Nery Plata thanked the pioneer organization and its president Gilberto Jesus Mendoza for the opportunity to have fought for the world title and, of course, she was happy to have received her belt.
The Mexican cut the long reign of Argentina’s Yésica Bopp last March 11 at the KO a las Drogas in Panama. She won by split decision in a very competitive and entertaining fight to become the new 108-pound champion.
The 28-year-old fighter is going through a great streak and the WBA is proud to have a champion of such caliber and great values as the native of Mexico City.
