Latin American Olympic fighters continue working their way up in professional boxing as Colombian John Lenon Gutierrez who defeated Brian Ortega on Friday night in Mexico City.
Lenon is one of the South American country’s top talents and participated in the WBA Future Champions camp over a year ago. The lightweight made a great fight fighting one on one with the Mexican but managed to impose his strength and his high volume of punches to make him succumb at the third round.
The 27-year-old fighter won his second professional bout after making his debut last December in his native country. It was his first international experience and he had no problems with the pressure of being away from home, which speaks to his mettle and focus.
Of his two victories, one has been by knockout, while Ortega was making his debut in professional boxing.
