Former world champion Juan Diaz met with Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, president of the World Boxing Association (WBA), this Saturday in Houston, Texas, who took the opportunity to present him with a mini-belt in recognition of his boxing career and the activities that the fighter is carrying out after his retirement.
“Juan (Diaz) was a great athlete, champion of three organizations, including our WBA. But what I celebrate the most is to see him with many challenges ahead. He leads a transportation company and maintains a gym where he helps other fighters forge their dreams. In addition, he always supports our organization,” said Mendoza.
For his part, Diaz was very grateful for the recognition and expressed his willingness to support the WBA from Houston and be one more of those who help the systematic development of boxing.
“Baby Bull”, as the boxer is known, won the WBA lightweight title in 2004 and successfully defended it 7 times. He finished his career in 2016 and left a record of 42 victories, 21 of them by knockout and 4 defeats.
