Japanese Reiya Konishi (15-0, 5 KOs) and Venezuelan Carlos Cañizales (19-0-1, 16 KOs) completed their open workout on the afternoon of Thursday, March 15th, in Kobe, Japan, prior to their fight next Sunday for the vacant World Boxing Association Light Flyweight Championship.
Konishi and Cañizales delighted the public and did some mitt punches for the cameras, to show a bit of the arsenal which will be displayed on March 18th, when the black and gold belt of the WBA is at stake. This will be the first time that the Japanese boxer fights for a world title, unlike the South American, who tied in a championship fight with the former champion Ryoichi Taguchi.
Boxers have only two commitments left before the initial bell: the press conference and weigh-in ceremony. Thus, they will be ready to fight for the WBA World Title at 108 pounds.
