PABA 105lb king Kwanthai Sithmorseng (31-0-1, 17 KOs) became the new WBA minimumweight champion when he won a split decision over WBA # 2 world ranked Pigmy Muangchaiyaphum (42-6-2, 18 KOs) on Friday at Phranakhon Rajabhat University in Bangkok, Thailand. This was an exciting bout as both fighters viciously exchanged punches most of the twelve round heat-bout. It seemed Kwanthai being a little better in the first three round as he displayed more accurate counterpunches. The situation was changed from round four when Pigmy speeded his aggression, exchanging toe-to-toe and gaining the scores back with his more effective bodyshots. But the PABA king came back again from round nine, landing his good combinations to deny Pigmy’s assault and dominating until round eleven. Although Pigmy exerted his full attempt in hunting his opponent in round twelve but it was too late to turn the tide. Scored : Chalerm Prayadsab (Thailand) 116-112 and Michael Lee (Korea) 115-114 for Kwanthai while Takeo Harada (Japan) saw 115-114 for Pigmy.
