The fight for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Light Flyweight Championship between Japan’s Hiroto Kyoguchi and Mexico’s Esteban Bermudez was confirmed this week and will take place on June 10 at the Arena Coliseo, in Mexico City.
Kyoguchi, super champion, will face Bermudez, who is the champion of the category. A bout ordered by the championships committee of the pioneer organization in the framework of the world title reduction plan and that will result in the winner as the only 108-pound monarch.
Kyoguchi will be making the fourth defense of his crown, which he won from South Africa’s Hekkie Budler in December 2018. He has since defended it three times against Tanawat Nakoon, Tetsuya Hisada and Axel Aragon Vega.
Bermudez is coming off the biggest fight of his career when he knocked out Carlos Canizales in May last year and took the belt from him. That gave him the opportunity to face Kyoguchi and he will have home advantage in a good matchup.
Kyoguchi is undefeated in 15 fights, of which he has won 10 before the limit. Bermudez, meanwhile, has 14 wins, 3 losses, 2 draws and 10 knockouts.
