Thomas Lamanna won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedecentro Super Welterweight title by defeating Mexico’s Juan de Jesus Angulo by TKO in five rounds on Saturday night.
The bout held in Sonora, Mexico, had the first WBA regional title belt of 2021 at stake, and it was won by the New Jersey native after a dominant performance against Angulo.
Lamanna, 29, has improved after a narrow loss in August to Brian Mendoza. He has won two fights in a row and now has a belt that brings him closer to better opportunities.
The American’s record improved to 30 wins, 4 losses, 1 draw, and 12 KOs. Angulo, on the other hand, now has a record of 21 wins, 15 losses, and 14 KOs.
