Erislandy Lara (25-2-2, 14KO’s) is set to defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) Super World Super Welterweight Title this Saturday, April 7th, against Jarrett Hurd (21-0, 15KO’s). The fight will take place at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will be aired live on the Showtime premium cable network.
Lara is coming off of a dominating performance over Terrell Gausha this last October where he handed the American his first loss as a professional. Lara outboxed the challenger over the course of twelve rounds and knocked him down once in the fourth to win the unanimous decision victory.
Hurd is coming off of seven stoppage victories in a row including his most impressive performance yet this last October when he stopped Austin Trout in the tenth round of a closely contested match. The fight took place on the same card as Lara vs Gausha and was very action packed, with Hurd getting outboxed early on only to come back and wear down Trout with his heavy hands and pressure fighting style.
This will be Laras third title fight as the WBA Super Champion and figures to be an excellent matchup between the champion as “the boxer” and the challenger Hurd as “the puncher”.
