Leandro Jose Blanc became the new World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedelatin Super Flyweight champion with a split decision win over Mexican German Valenzuela on Friday night during KO Drugs Argentina.
The Argentine prospect got a good victory over the visitor after battling for 10 rounds to get cards of 96-93, 96-93 and 93-98.
The local came from less to more and had to decipher a Mexican who surpassed him in height and reach, worked with good combinations and was throwing a lot of punches. However, Blanc began to use his straight left and found the key to open Valenzuela’s guard and recover as the rounds went by.
Blanc managed to knock Valenzuela down in the sixth round to confirm his dominance and in the end take an important victory that keeps him undefeated after 6 professional fights, of which he has won 3 by knockout.
