Guatemalan Lester Martinez has set his sights on moving up to the world’s elite and putting his country on the boxing map. Last week he won the WBA NABA silver super middleweight belt by defeating Rodolfo Gomez Jr. in Laredo, Texas.
It was another victory for the 26-year-old fighter and a new professional title, which helps him continue to rise and make a name for himself in boxing today.
It was Martinez’s first fight in the United States, first he was going to fight in Las Vegas but that fight was suspended, which was a shock for him that he knew how to manage. “When they canceled the fight in Las Vegas, I felt bad, because I was very excited; but, then, I managed to take it calmly. I said to myself: God knows why things happen, and then this fight came and we debuted with a win,” he told Prensa Libre, a Guatemalan media outlet.
“I want to be among the best in the world and face the champions and beat them, get more titles. I want to fight for the world title”, assured the Central American.
For now he remains undefeated and has already shown himself in the North American market. A big step for his career and his aspirations.
