The fight between the Super Lightweight Champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), Ukrainian native Vasyl Lomachenko (12-1, 9KO) and the British challenger Anthony Crolla (34-6-3, 13KO), will be the highlight of a great fight menu that the oldest sanctioning body in the world will put on during the month of April.
“Loma-Crolla” will be held at the legendary Staples Center in the city of Los Angeles, California, and will be the second defense of the championship that the Eastern European fighter won last May against Jorge Linares. The fight will be a mandatory, as Crolla was the number one challenger of the organization and won the opportunity to fight for the title in which he has already been champion of in the past.
In total, there will be six fights that will have WBA titles in play in the fourth month of the year. A day later, on April 13, the middleweight champ Claressa Shields (8-0, 2KO) will defend her WBA belt and the rest of her crowns against the unbeaten Kazakhstan native Christina Hammer (24-0, 11KO) ) in a unification fight. The confrontation will take place in Boardwalk Hall, New Jersey, and is one of the most highly anticipated female fights in quite some time.
On April 20, the American Brandon Figueroa (18-0, 13KO) will face the Venezuelan Yonfrez Parejo (22-3-1, 11KO) for the interim belt of super bantamweight at Carson’s Dignity Health Sports Park, California. On the other hand, on April 26, the unification match between the WBA champion Daniel Roman (26-2-1, 10KO) and the Australian challenger TJ Doheny (21-0, 15KO) will be held at the Forum in Inglewood California.
The action in April will end on the 27th, when there will be a couple of head-to-head matches.
