Gabriel Maestre and Diego Gabriel Chaves are ready to step into the ring to fight for the AMB- Fedebol Super Welterweight Championship, in Maestre’s hands. After weeks of anticipation, the Venezuelan and Argentinean complied with the weight for their fight on Thursday at the “Palacio de Combates Sugar Baby Rojas”, Barranquilla, as a main fight of the “Double Impact” card.
Maestre stopped the scale at 149.6 pounds, while Chaves weighed 149.8, evidencing the great physical condition of both fighters. This will be an interesting test for them, as the Venezuelan will make his second professional fight after a very successful amateur career, while Chaves, who has fought the best in the world, will try to impose his experience and go up in the ranking to another title shot opportunity.
The “Captain”, as the title holder is nicknamed, will comply his first title defense. Maestre won the title in his professional debut by knocking out the undefeated Jeovanis “El Meke” Barraza.
The weigh-in ceremony also included Barraza himself, who returns to the ring to fight the Mexican Fernando Silva in the Welterweight division. On the other hand, Yoel Finol, Rio 2016 Olympic silver medalist, will fight against Colombian Carlos Marmol in the Super Bantamweight division.
” Double Impact” will close a great year for boxing in Barranquilla which it will be broadcast live on ESPN.
