Gabriel Maestre has a clear objective and it is to conquer a world title in the short term. On Thursday, he will meet Mexican Daniel Vega at the Kilymandiaro Club, in Puerto Colombia, aiming to take another step towards his goal.
The 2015 Toronto Pan American champion and third ranked welterweight of the World Boxing Association (WBA) will be one of the main attractions of the “Maratón Boxística” (Boxing Marathon) program, fighting a veteran like “Muñeco” Vega.
The fight will be one of the most interesting among the 20 fights scheduled to take place. The styles of both fighters predict a train wreck with lots of punching and excitement.
“Captain” Maestre has been training in Barranquilla for the last few months and promised an exciting fight for better opportunities in the near future.
This will be the co-main fight of the program, which will have Venezuelan Carlos Cañizales defending his WBA Light Flyweight title against Mexican Jesús Silvestre.
Maestre has 2 KOs in as many fights, while Vega has 16 wins, 4 losses, 1 draw and 13 KOs.
