France’s Yurik Mamedov and Argentina’s Jose Javier Clavero will fight for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental lightweight title on August 15 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France.
For Mamedov it will be a special occasion as it will be his first appearance in his native country. The 31-year-old fighter has made his career between the United States and Mexico, with an occasional appearance in Jamaica, and now he will go home to fight for a regional belt.
Mamedov has held several regional belts and has fought in different categories. Now he will return to 135 pounds and seek a new belt. He has won two fights in a row and intends to continue his streak.
Clavero is a 28-year-old fighter with a lot of experience who has also fought for several regional championships in different bodies. The Cordoba native wants to ruin the night of the local and will try to use all his experience to his advantage to do so.
Mamedov has a record of 15 wins, 2 losses and 7 knockouts, while Clavero has 30 wins, 9 losses and 7 knockouts.
