During the press conference held in Monaco, Martin Murray, challenger for the World Boxing Association 160 lbs Middleweight super champion, Gennady Golovkin, said he is sure to be able to beat him on Saturday, February 21, 2015.
Murray acknowledged that his opponent is “one of the best fighters in the world, but this Saturday I’m going to win,” said bluntly the British, who added “I had a great training camp. I’ve done everything I need to beat him, this will be the toughest fight of my life, but I’m ready for everything”.
Golovkin (31-0, 28 KO’s) is defending his WBA Middleweight title as well as the WBC interim Middleweight title, while Murray (29-1-1, 12 KO’s) seeks to defeat the Kazaks.
The officials of this Saturday’s fight are Luis Pabon as referee, and the scorecards will be added by Stanley Christodoulou (RSA), appointed by the WBA; and Fernando Barbosa (US) and Jack Woodburn (CAN) appointed by the WBC.
Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, WBA vice-president will supervise the fight.
The weigh-in ceremony will take place on Friday 20.
