At today’s weigh-in in advance of Saturday’s championship fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, between WBA Super World welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather (48-0, 26 KOs), from Las Vegas by way of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and interim WBA welterweight champion Andre Berto (30-3, 23 KOs), from Winter Haven, Florida, both fighters easily made weight.
Mayweather tipped the scales at 146 pounds, while Berto came in at 145. The welterweight limit is 147 pounds.
This may be Mayweather’s final fight and he has been training harder than usual because he wants to finish his “career in style.”
“If you stick around anything too long, anything can happen,” says Floyd. “You can make a lot of money, but you still want to be able to talk, walk, and have a sharp mind.”
Tune into Showtime PPV Saturday to witness an historic fight on an historic night.
