Floyd Mayweather Jr demonstrated that his boxing style is way superior to any of the opponents he has faced so far, and on Saturday night he defeated the Mexican Saul Canelo Alvarez without problem at the MGM Grand Hotel Arena.
Mayweather is still the absolute King of the World Boxing Association super welterweight division after seeing the fight scores 116-112, 117-111 and 114-114 to keep his undefeated record in 45 fights.
More than 16 thousand people in attendance witnessed the speed of Mayweather and the Mexican frustration when missing his punches. However, at the post fight presser the American said, “Canelo does everything right, goes to the body, lands good combination and counterattack well. Canelo is a thinker, I am a thinker. This was chess board.”
He repeated that he has 24 months left in boxing, and that future is for boxers like the Mexican.
On his behalf, Alvarez obviously crestfallen said, “I did not want to be defeated, and it hits my pride very hard. But that is the way it is, and it was my time to lose” then said, he is a very fast boxer and does it faster when he is scoring. His punches are not powerful but to win the fight, to score point”.

Floyd Mayweather Jr demostró que su estilo de boxear es superior a todo rival, hasta el momento, y la noche del sábado en la Arena del MGM Grand Hotel superó sin problemas al mexicano Saúl Canelo Álvarez.
Mayweather queda como rey absoluto del peso súper welter de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo después de ver la pelea 116-112, 117-111 y 114-114 para mantener su récord perfecto en 45 combates.
Más de 16 mil personas estuvieron presentes en el combate, y fueron testigos de la velocidad de Mayweather además de la frustración del mexicano al fallar los golpes. Sin embargo, tras el combate, en la conferencia de prensa, el estadounidense dijo: “Canelo hace todo bien, va bien al cuerpo, pega buenas combinaciones, contragolpea bien. Canelo es un pensador, yo soy un pensador. Esto fue un tablero de ajedrez”.
Recalcó que sólo le quedan 24 meses en el boxeo, y que el futuro es para talentos como el del mexicano.
Por su parte, Álvarez evidentemente cabizbajo, afirmó “Obviamente no quería salir de aquí con una derrota, y me pega en el orgullo, muy fuerte. Pero así es esto, y hoy me tocó perder”, y luego completó “es un peleador rápido, y lo hace más rápido todavía cuando un peleador te está punteando. Sus golpes no son de poder, sólo para ganar la pelea, para hacer puntos”.
