WBA – WBC unified Welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather and WBO champion Manny Pacquiao attended the press conference prior to their May 2 fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The first fighter to talk was the Filipino, who thanked God, the promoters as well as the sponsors. After recalling his debut in United States (at the MGM Grand), he had words for the press.
Pacquiao said, “it is going to be a good fight. There are many questions about the fight that only God can answer on Saturday”, and went on saying that he wants to be an example for all” that hungry child who slept in streets, now seek to satisfy his people “.
Pacquiao stressed that there is nothing personal in this battle “each one give the best to carve our name in the history of boxing”.
He ended saying that he would like to have a conversation with Mayweather “after the fight, to talk about religion, to share my faith and speak of God”.
Then was the turn of the American, who also thanked God “for making this possible, the media that make him known all over the world”, the sponsors, and his team.
Mayweather Jr said, “Training has been exceptional. My father has done a great job. I thank my uncle and my father for the training”.
Then he said, “it is time to fight. We want to make history. You came to see fight, emotion, a great fight and that is what we will give you. I feel fine, I feel strong. We’ll see you on Saturday. Thanks”, said emphatically Mayweather Jr.
The weighing ceremony will be on Friday at the headquarters of the fight.
