The World Boxing Association championships committee summoned a Purse bid for the bantamweight title fight between the British Jamie McDonnell and the Venezuelan Liborio Solis on July 3, 2017.
The WBA ordered both parties to negotiate on January 31, 2017 and granted them 30 days to reach an agreement according to championship rule C.36. however, since they did not reach an agreement for the WBA summoned a Purse bid. This division minimum amount to participate is 120 thousand dollars. The purse bid distribution will be 75% for the champion and 25% for the challenger.
McDonnell and Solis first fought for the WBA Bantamweight title in December 2016, when the British boxer won by a controversial unanimous decision: 116-112, 115-113 and 117-111, and the championships committee ordered a rematch request made by Solis team.
Both parties were duly notified. The Purse bid will take place in the WBA office located in Panama City, Panama, and will be chaired by Mr. Aurelio Fiengo member of the directory.
