The Panamanian Anselmo “chemito” Moreno retained his World Boxing Association (WBA) super bantamweight championship defeating by unanimous decision the Argentine Javier “chispita” Chacon, this Saturday night in boxing card held at the Roberto Duran Arena, promoted by Rogelio Espiño of Promociones y Eventos del Istmo, and broadcast in Panamá by TVMax, and TyC Sports in Argentina part of America.
“Chemito” Moreno made his twelfth successful defines of his WBA title in a one way decision over Chacon, in a fight that he was never at risk of losing. Moreno established his boxing throughout the fight, marked in each round and making the Argentine fail to the point of frustrating him.
With his speed, intelligence and fast movements in the ring, Moreno dominated Chacon from the first round, but in the second round he marked a difference sending the challenger twice to the canvas. Although the first fall seemed like a slip, the American referee Russell Mora validated the two visits of the South American to the canvas as knock down.
The judges scored the fights as follow: Uriel Aguilera 118-108, Alfredo Polanco 117-108 and Hernando Steidel 117.5-109.5.
After the end of the fight, Moreno said that he would like to fight Mexican champion Leo Santa Cruz, not ruling out that in 90 days he is required a mandatory defense against Dominican Juan Carlos Payano. “I know I have to make this mandatory, however, I’d actually like to fight Leo Santa Cruz. In a few days we should be sorting out this issue”, said “Chemito”.
With this result, “Chemito” improved his record to 35-2-1, with 12 knockouts, while Chacon fell to 19-2 with 4 knockouts.
