Emanuel Navarrete (24-1, 21KO’s) and Jose Sanmartin (26-4-1, 1KO’s) will fight this Saturday, June 2nd, in an eliminator for the World Boxing Association (WBA) at the super bantamweight limit. The fight will take at the Arena José Sulaimán in Monterrey, Mexico.
This Friday at the weigh-in Navarrete came in at 122.0lbs, while Sanmartin came in at 121.6lbs, with both men making the divisional weight limit for the title eliminator bout.
Navarrete currently is ranked at the #2 spot in the WBA super bantamweight rankings, while Sanmartin ranks at #7.
The current king of the 122 pound class in the WBA is Daniel Román, who just defended his title in February, getting a unanimous decision victory over Ryo Matsumoto.
Moises Flores is the interim champion and he is scheduled to face the full champion Daniel Román on June 16th at The Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, and will be broadcast on Showtime premium network.
