Saturday night at the Ballerup Super Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark, WBA International super middleweight champion Patrick Nielsen (26-1, 12 KOs), from Albertslund, Denmark, successfully defended his title by decisioning Charles Adamu (23-7, 7 KOs), from Accra, Ghana.

All three judges scored it 120-108 for the winner.

It was the 24-year-old Nielsen’s first defense of the title he won by defeating George Tahdooahnippah last March. Many thought the 37-year-old Ghanaian veteran would present more of a challenge for the Durable Dane.

But it was not to be.

After the fight Nielsen said, “I wanted the knockout, but he made it difficult for me. I started strongly and shook him in the first round. But after that he just wanted to survive. I worked my jab and looked for openings, but it wasn’t to be. The most important thing is the result, and I’m pleased I beat him and defended my title.”
