Thailand’s Thammanoon Niyomtrong was awarded the World Boxing Association (WBA) Boxer of the Month award thanks to the new defense of his world minimumweight title on July 20.
Along with the awards of the month, the rankings of the 17 male weight categories were also published, which are available to the public in the corresponding section of the WBA website.
The 105-pound monarch was the top-ranked fighter thanks to a dominant performance over legend Chayaphon Moonsri at the Chonburi Provoncial Ground in Chonburi.
It was his 15th defense since winning his first WBA (interim) title in 2014, 12th since becoming champion in 2016 and fourth since holding Super Champion status (2020). He remains undefeated
Niyomtrong is one of the most dominant fighters today and has been able to create an impressive dominance while remaining the owner of the black and gold belt.
