The city of Los Angeles witnessed the first face-to-face meeting between Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence Jr., who will fight in Las Vegas on August 21st in a big welterweight bout.

Pacquiao and Spence participated in the conference, answered questions at the television studio and talked about what they expect from this bout, which has created a lot of expectations in the boxing world.

For Pacquiao, who is 42 years old, it will be quite a challenge to return to the ring after a couple of years of inactivity to take on one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the main event of the Premier Boxing Champions evening.

“I could have chosen a different fight than Errol Spence but I like challenges and my passion is boxing. This is what the fans want,” the Filipino assured.

As for his opponent’s boxing skills, Pacquiao made it clear that he has a challenge ahead and that it will not be easy: “You cannot trust or underestimate someone like Spence. He is young, talented, and has a lot of potential, I have seen him train with passion and dedication”.

For his part, Spence talked about how he felt when he was offered to fight Pacquiao and gave details of his preparation for the fight.

“When they called me and said ‘do you want to fight Manny Pacquiao’ I said ‘absolutely yes, I’m ready for this’. We are working with fighters that have similarities to Pacquiao, obviously they are not the same as him but we are focusing on their timing and speed to be ready for what is coming,” he said.

Both fighters will continue with their training camps. Spence with Mike James and Pacquiao with Freddie Roach. The bout will be one of the best 147-pound fights in recent years and will be a very interesting generational fight for the sport.
