Panama, home of the World Boxing Association (WBA) is a traditional boxing country and one of the most active countries that intends to hold events behind closed doors when all conditions are suitable.
This was announced by several promoters of the Central American country, which spoke with the journalist Aurelio Ortiz for Mi Diario, a national newspaper.
“I had scheduled six shows this year and only did the one in February. I plan to do something before Father’s Day if I can keep the sponsors, because everyone has been hit (financially)”, said Diego Victoria of G&V Entertainment.
“I’ll have to start from scratch again, but I’m very optimistic, as it is now that we have to do more sports than ever because that also helps us to move forward”, added Victoria.
The promoter made it clear that in the event of holding such events, they will comply with all the protocols required by the current situation.
Another promoter referred to in the article was Jose Garcia, leader of Casa de Campeones Productions, who intends to reactivate the activity in Chiriquí.
“We will have to consider what liberties the government will give us, and if I have to do events behind closed doors with my own resources, I will do it, because we have several boxers in the House of Champions who have to fight”, said García, who also came up with the idea of using the closed circuit so that the public can watch the fights.
