Paulina Angel won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedelatin super lightweight title after a technical decision against Monica Henao in the main event of the Future of Colombian Boxing held in Barranquilla this weekend.

The fight went to the scorecards after Henao was unable to continue due to a chin injury caused by an accidental headbutt.

At the time of the stoppage, Angel was ahead on all the judges’ scorecards and took the win in that sixth round to retain the regional crown.

“No one knows the work behind all this,” said an emotional Paulina Angel after her win. “It was a fight in which I always felt confident, everything was going well for me and I got a great victory.”

The fighter from Antioquia was the figure of this WBA Future and has shown a great evolution since her training at the WBA academy until this moment in which she is already a reality as a boxer and is the Latin monarch of the organism.

“The academy in Medellin is what made me realize that I want to be a professional fighter. Thanks to that I am here and I thank the WBA for that,” said Angel.

The new regional champion reached 6 wins, has 1 loss and 2 draws, while Henao improved to 6 wins, 3 setbacks and 6 draws.
