Caleb Plant is days away from the big fight of his life when he steps into the ring on November 6 to face Saul “Canelo” Alvarez for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Middleweight Super Championship, WBC, WBO and IBF belts in Las Vegas.
On Wednesday he held a public training session, which was broadcast live, and talked to the press and fans about his upcoming fight next week.
“There are a lot of things that I possess that are going to give him issues in the fight. Every fighter says this is their best camp, but I am honestly saying that. I’ve had no injuries, amazing sparring and I’m ready to rock,” assured the 29-year-old American.
Plant is the IBF champion and is aiming to win the WBA, WBC and WBO belts from Canelo to become the undisputed champion and make history. There have been some altercations at previous promotional events and that has heated tempers between the two fighters.
“There have been some guys who lost before the bell even rang against Canelo. I think that’s why he’s so irritated with me. Some guys just come in and are there to hand over their belt, get their check and leave. Anyone who knows me, they know I’m only here for those belts,” he said.
Alvarez has predicted that he will have some difficulty in the opening rounds but will settle into the fight and get Plant knocked out before the eighth, a prediction his opponent disagrees with.
“He says the first few rounds will be tough, but I’m saying all the rounds are going to be tough for him. He’s got a tall order in front of him. Me and my team are focused and ready. I’m just encouraging everyone to tune in because it’s going to be fireworks,” Plant closed.
