Caleb Plant will have the most important fight of his career on November 6 when he steps into the ring in Las Vegas to fight the current pound-for-pound king, Saul Alvarez, for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Middleweight Super Championship.
Plant owns the IBF belt, while Canelo holds the WBA, WBC and WBO, so the fight will be for the undisputed title of the division.
The American has few options according to several respected analysts but for him this has been the case on several occasions, so he believes he can surprise the Mexican on November 6, especially because, in his opinion, Alvarez has looked vulnerable in several passages of his career.
“He’s been beaten before,” Plant assured on the PBC podcast according to statements gathered from Boxing Scene. “Honestly, he looked beatable in a lot of his bigger fights.”
“None of his fans are going to be able to convince me that the guy is unbeatable, that this is a David and Goliath story. That’s not going to be my mindset about this fight,” the stylist stressed.
Plant talked about all the complicated fights Canelo has had, he said that from his perspective he saw him lose in the first fight with Golovkin and that against Kovalev he looked pretty complicated. In addition, he said that Billy Joe Saunders was fighting very well against Alvarez until one punch changed everything.
“I thought Billy Joe was having a lot of success and doing a lot of good things but he got caught with a punch and that can happen to anyone in boxing at any time. That doesn’t mean (Canelo) is invincible,” he said.
Canelo and Plant are in their training camps leading up to the fight and their only goal is to go out with their hands up to reign supreme in the 168-pound division.
