Bury ring ace Scott Quigg will gatecrash the world rankings if his wins the WBA intercontinental super-bantamweight title later this month, Quigg, 21, will meet Argentinian Santiago Allione (16-6-1) for the vacant crown Bury’s Castle Leisure Centre on Saturday September 25, with the show being filmed by Hatton TV.

Quigg has sold more than 1000 tickets for the fight against his South American rival – the first non-European he has ever faced, Hatton Promotions CEO Gareth Williams said: “Although Scott is learning all the time, this title could get him a ranking in the WBA and eligible for a world title challenge. “He is already close to a British title fight and is ranked third by the EBU so there are a lot of doors opening.

“Scott is becoming one of the biggest ticket sellers in Britain and when he breaks into the mainstream, is someone fans will identify with.”

Allione, 26, has knocked out six of his opponents will be having his first fight of 2010 against Quigg, but is in good form. He has won his last three fights and his most recent victory was a fourth round knockout of Juan Esteban Cerda.

Quigg who is unbeaten in all 19 professional fights is also closing in on a British title fight after winning an eliminator over Gavin Reid in July.
