Mexican knockout artist Jesús “Mono” Ramos put on a power-punching clinic Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, stopping former world champion Jeison “Banana” Rosario with a vicious eighth-round knockout to claim the WBA Continental North America super welterweight title.

The fight opened with both men trading leather in a tense, action-packed start, but Ramos quickly took control with sharper combinations and superior ring generalship. His hand speed and accuracy wore down Rosario, who found himself backing up under relentless pressure.

Ramos’ hooks and uppercuts found their mark with alarming consistency, breaking down the Dominican’s guard and sapping his resistance. As the rounds wore on, Rosario’s movement slowed, his output dropped, and he was forced to fight off the back foot, absorbing heavy punishment.

By the eighth round, the writing was on the wall. A punishing combination sent Rosario crashing to the canvas in a heap. He gamely beat the count, signaling to the referee that he was willing to continue, but Ramos smelled blood. The Mexican contender immediately swarmed him with another brutal flurry, forcing the referee to step in and stop the carnage before further damage could be done.

With the emphatic win, Ramos improves to 21-1 with 17 knockouts, cementing his status as a rising force in the super welterweight division and climbing closer to a world title shot as the WBA’s No. 7-ranked contender.

For Rosario (24-4-2, 19 KOs), the crushing defeat serves as a major setback in his quest to return to title contention, while Ramos continues his ascent as one of the most dangerous punchers in the weight class.
