World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental Americas featherweight champion Raymond Ford will face Jessie Magdaleno on April 8 at the Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas, in a fight that generates a lot of expectations.
Ford and Magdaleno are both aspirants for a world title shot and this fight will be very important for both of them, plus it will take place in an event that will be broadcasted by DAZN.
Ford, nicknamed “Savage,” is 26 years old and has been a consistent boxer who has proven himself fight after fight and improves every time he steps into the ring. He earned his crown in August 2021 with a win over Reece Belloti and has since gone on a five-fight defense streak in which he has defeated two undefeated fighters and made his name known in big arenas.
Now, Magdaleno will be a bigger test for him, as he is a former world super bantamweight champion. At 31, he is looking for a shot at 126 pounds and knows that getting the WBA regional belt with a win over Ford could be a big opportunity for him.
He defeated Nonito Donaire in 2016 to become WBO champion and made a defense of that title. He lost it in his second exhibition against Isaac Dogboe and has since moved up a division. In feather he has made four fights, all with wins.
Ford has a record of 13 wins, no losses, 1 draw and 7 knockouts, while Magdaleno has 29 wins, 1 loss and 18 knockouts.
