World Boxing Association (WBA) Interim Lightweight Champion, Rolando Romero, will make the first defense of his belt this Saturday night at the event that Mayweather Promotions will organize at the Mohegan Sun Casino, in Uncasville, Connecticut, U.S.A.
The Cuban-American won the belt on August 15th in a tough fight against Dominican Jackson Maríñez. “Rolly” fought during 12 demanding rounds against the Caribbean boxer to win a unanimous decision on the judges’ scorecards.
At 25 years old, he remains one of the most interesting prospects at 135 pounds and wants to keep improving in search of facing the best in the division in the near future.
He will face the also young Justin Pauldo, who will have his first title fight opportunity and is 26 years old. The Orlando native has a technical boxing style and good mobility, tools with which he hopes to surprise the champion.
On that same evening, Raeese Aleem and Vic Pasillas will fight for the vacant WBA Interim Super Bantamweight title.
Romero is undefeated in 12 bouts, 10 won by KO, while Pauldo has 14 wins, 1 loss, and 7 KOs.
