Daniel Roman (24-2-1, 9KO’s) and Moises Flores (25-0, 17KO’s) weighed in in the Texas heat outside of the Dallas Cowboys training facility.
Roman came in at 121.7lbs, while Flores came in at 123.5lbs on his first attempt – missing the 122lb divisional limit – and then came in at 123lbs on his second attempt which was still a full pound short of the limit.
Roman’s World Boxing Association (WBA) World Super Bantamweight Title will only be on the line for him to lose in this fight, as Flores cannot win it coming in overweight. In addition, Flores lost his interim title on the scales by not making the weight.
An agreement was worked on so that the bout will still take place as planned at The Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, and be televised live on Showtime premium network.
Moises Flores is still an undefeated fighter although now he has more controversy piled on top of his last time in the ring, which was against Guillermo Rigondeaux nearly a year ago when he appeared to get knocked out, with the referee ruling it a first round knockout, but the Nevada State Athletic Commission overturning the ruling to a no contest due to the knockout punch being landed after the bell had rung to end the first round.
