This Saturday, June 16th, Daniel Roman (24-2-1, 9KO’s) will be defending his World Boxing Association (WBA) World Super Bantamweight Title against Moises Flores (25-0, 17KO’s).
The bout will take place at The Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, and be televised live on Showtime premium network.
This will be Roman’s second defense of the WBA title that he won via TKO against Shun Kubo in Japan in September of 2017. He has had one successful title defense this February when he won a unanimous decision over Ryo Matsumoto at the legendary Korakuen Hall.
Now he will be facing a still undefeated Moises Flores, whose last time in the ring was against Guillermo Rigondeaux nearly a year ago when he appeared to get knocked out, with the referee ruling it a first round knockout, but the Nevada State Athletic Commission overturning the ruling to a no contest due to the knockout punch being landed after the bell had rung to end the first round.
“Everyone knows I want to fight the best and Flores is right up there,” said Roman in a recent interview. “He’s unbeaten for a reason and he’s the number one challenger for my title. I’m not taking him lightly. I’m motivated to be great. I’m more focused now than ever before. I’m not going to let Flores, or anyone else take my belt. The plan is simple. Pick him apart round by round just like I’ve done in my other world title fights.”
